West Miami Police Department Enhances Community Accessibility with Autism Training

WEST MIAMI, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, August 21, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) recognizes the West Miami Police Department (WMPD) as a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC). This designation follows the department’s completion of specialized autism training and certification, underscoring its commitment to fostering a safe environment for all community members, including those with autism and sensory sensitivities.

It provides officers with specialized training to recognize and appropriately respond to calls, fostering trust and effective communication. WMPD joins a growing number of law enforcement agencies nationwide that are prioritizing autism awareness and inclusion. By becoming a CAC, the department aims to set a standard for other agencies to follow, promoting a more inclusive approach to public safety.
