A Connecticut teen was arrested after an early morning pursuit with police in a stolen vehicle in Oneida County.

According to New York State Police, troopers were running a stationary radar on State Route 12 near Pritchard Road around 4:35 a.m. Monday when a black 2011 Cadillac SRX passed them traveling at 82 mph.

Troopers pulled onto State Route 12 and caught up to the vehicle and tried to affect a traffic stop.

Upon activating their emergency lights, the operator of the vehicle suddenly accelerated to evade the patrol, police said.

The pursuit continued north on State Route 12 and entered into Lewis County.

The suspect vehicle entered the village of Port Leyden and turned down Quarry Road where he struck a chain that crossed the roadway. Troopers stopped behind the vehicle, at which point the operator fled out of the passenger side of the car into a residential area. Troopers chased after the suspect.

The vehicle, which was still in gear, then rolled 19 feet backward into the State Police patrol car, causing front-end damage.

The suspect was located a short time later and taken into custody.

The investigation revealed the 18-year-old driver had stolen the vehicle in New Haven, Connecticut and was driving to the city of Utica.

The suspect is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (class “D” felony), Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree (a class “A” misdemeanor) and Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (a class “A” misdemeanor).

Due to the suspect's age, his name and arrest photo are not able to be released.
