In a tragic incident in Agra, a young man set himself on fire after learning that his girlfriend’s marriage had been arranged with someone else. The event took place at the Hotel King Park Avenue in Hariparvat, Agra, where the couple had booked a room under the pretense of being husband and wife.
The young man, unable to bear the thought of losing his girlfriend, devised a plan to meet her one last time without her knowledge of his intentions. The girl, unaware of his plan, agreed to meet him at the hotel. Shortly after they entered the room, screams were heard, prompting the hotel staff to break down the door.

Upon entering, the staff found the couple engulfed in flames. The young man had set himself on fire, and in her attempt to save him, the girl also sustained burns. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital. The boy suffered 80 percent burns, while the girl also sustained significant injuries.
According to the girl’s account, when she emerged from the bathroom, she found the room doused in petrol. The boy then demanded that she call her family to cancel the marriage.
When she refused, urging him not to create a scene, he ignited himself with a matchstick. The prompt response from the hotel staff saved them from further harm, but both remain hospitalised due to their injuries.
