Some familiar faces are set to make their debut at Universal’s newest theme park!

Universal Destinations & Experiences officially announced they would be opening their first-ever theme park and resort in the U.K. on April 8.

While the release states that it’s “too early in the process” to know which experiences and attractions will be featured, guests can reportedly look forward to seeing some of their favorite franchises at the upcoming park — including Paddington Bear, James Bond, and Lord of the Rings — according to BBC

The outlet also reports that Harry Potter-themed experiences “are not expected” to be featured at the new location, which is set to be built in Bedfordshire, England.

While there are currently Universal parks in Florida and Los Angeles in the U.S., as well as Japan, Beijing and Singapore, this one will be “the first Universal-branded theme park in the U.K. and Europe,” per a press release.

Similar to other Universal destinations, the resort complex is set to include a "world-class theme park with several themed lands" featuring "immersive storytelling, thrilling rides, innovative attractions and exciting entertainment," the release states.

In addition to the rides and attractions, a 500-room hotel and a retail, dining and entertainment complex are also planned for the new location.

The entire resort will be spread out across 476 acres, and is expected to open sometime in 2031, according to BBC.

News of the upcoming theme park comes after Universal confirmed they had purchased land in the English town of Bedford in December 2023. According to the release, they spent over a year exploring the possibility of bringing a new theme park and resort experience to the site.
