A55 drivers faced a day of travel misery on Thursday as multiple incidents sparked major delays. Several crashes led to closures on the North Wales expressway across the day.
One crash, near Bangor, saw the road being closed in both directions as an air ambulance landed nearby. Drivers were urged to avoid the area while emergency crews worked at the scene.
Traffic Wales warned drivers that the road was closed between Junctions 10 and 11, with the Flightradar24 website showing the air ambulance landing at the scene at around 11.35am. It later flew to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.
The eastbound carriageway was reopened while the westbound carriageway remained shut. The Inrix traffic monitoring system said this was for "accident investigation work". The road fully reopened at around 1.40pm.

Further details on the nature of the incident, or whether anybody was injured, have not been released. North Wales Police said there were two incidents dealt with in the area, with one being a collision involving a car and a van.
An earlier incident in a similar location, reported by Traffic Wales to be a "collision", led to the westbound carriageway being shut from around 9.50am. North Wales Police later said this was an incident where a vehicle had to be recovered, but was not a collision.
Earlier in the day, at around 8.30am, drivers experienced long delays on the westbound carriageway near Mochdre. Again, it was initially reported by Traffic Wales to be a collision, however police said this was a broken down vehicle.

A two-vehicle crash also took place on the eastbound carriageway at Rhuallt Hill, at around 9.20am. The road was closed eastbound until around 9.53am while the vehicles involved were recovered.
There were also reports of a collision at Halkyn on the westbound carriageway at around 12.30pm. North Wales Police said they did not have details of a crash in this location, but were called at around 11.55am to reports of a person walking on the carriageway. The man was taken to a safer location off the carriageway.
