LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Henderson International School, a private institution with students from over 30 countries, dedicated the past week to celebrating diversity and cultural awareness during its annual International Week. Students from preschool through eighth grade participated in a global exploration, delving into the customs and cultures of various nations.
Throughout the week, classrooms were transformed into representations of different countries, allowing students to "travel the world" and learn about diverse nations.
The festivities culminated in the annual Parade of Nations, where students donned attire inspired by their cultural backgrounds or countries they studied.
"International Week is a pivotal moment for our young learners to broaden their understanding of the world," said Dr. Carmen Benedict, lower school principal at Henderson International School. "By celebrating different cultures and traditions, students develop empathy, respect, and a global perspective that prepares them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world."
Countries highlighted during International Week and the parade included Austria, India, Spain, Germany, Uganda, Australia, England, Egypt, Czechia, and many more.
The week featured dancing, food, fashion, and history from around the globe, illustrating the differences and commonalities shared with diverse regions.
Henderson International School emphasizes global awareness by allowing students to exchange worldviews and interact with other cultures.
