Indian travellers will now be able to benefit from the recently signed strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism New Zealand as it will strengthen travel ties and seamless access for Indian tourists to the country.

This is a strategic tie-up between one of India’s largest online travel companies and Tourism NZ to promote New Zealand as a tourist destination to Indians.

EaseMyTrip is one of the largest multinational online travel companies in India and is headquartered in the country’s capital, New Delhi. Founded in 2008 by the Pitti siblings, Nishant, Rikant and Prashant, the company offers flights, tour packages, hotel bookings, bus bookings and other white label services. In 2024, the company also announced its forays into medical and international study travel tourism.

Tourism New Zealand is the country’s national agency dedicated to boosting international tourism to New Zealand. Established in 1901, the agency, then called the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, has the distinction of being the first such agency set up anywhere in the world with a mandate to specifically boost tourism.

The crown entity is governed by a board headed by Jamie Tuuta, which works in conjunction with an executive team headed by Chief Executive René de Monchy.

What is on the table?

Under the terms of the MoU, EaseMyTrip will introduce specially curated travel packages that will take into account the preferences of Indian travellers while highlighting New Zealand’s breathtaking landscapes, adventure tourism and rich cultural heritage.

In addition, EaseMyTrip will launch seasonal promotional campaigns which align with India’s peak holiday periods to ensure year-round tourist travel.

Tourism New Zealand and EaseMyTrip will focus on providing streamlined booking solutions to make it easier for travellers. This will include exclusive offers and tailored experiences.

EaseMyTrip Founder-Chairman Nishant Pitti expressed his excitement about the collaboration.

“Through this collaboration, Indian travellers get the chance to explore the ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ with ease and convenience. We are excited to bring exclusive travel experiences that allow Indian tourists to immerse themselves in New Zealand’s beauty while ensuring seamless bookings and affordability,” he said.

De Monchy highlighted the significance of the Indian market, saying, “India is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing markets, with holiday visitor numbers experiencing double-digit growth and huge potential to keep growing. The travel trade has been integral in shaping holiday visitor flows and building desire for New Zealand as a premium destination for discerning travellers.”

He added, “We are focused on enhancing these commercial partnerships and through improved connectivity and strategically targeted high-impact marketing campaigns, we are keen to convert this interest into bookings and visitation.”

This partnership between EaseMyTrip and Tourism New Zealand comes at a time when Indian outbound travel to New Zealand is witnessing strong growth.

By addressing travel barriers and promoting year-round tourism, this collaboration aims to make New Zealand a top destination for Indian travellers.
