PENINSULA, Ohio – If you’re thinking about visiting Cuyahoga Valley National Park, you might want to plan your visit carefully if you think you’ll need to use a bathroom.
The park district on Wednesday announced that it is closing three restroom facilities until further notice: Boston Store, Horseshoe Pond and Pine Lane trailheads. The park has shared the closest location for open restrooms near each of these closed locations on its website and on the doors of the closed restrooms.
“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding,” the park district said in a Facebook post.
cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to the park to learn the reason for the closures but has not heard back.
The restroom closures come as the park district last month let go four full-time employees due to President Donald Trump’s job cuts across federal agencies, which included 1,000 National Parks Service jobs nationwide. While initially the employment status of Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s 40 seasonal workers was unclear, the positions have since been reinstated.
More than 2.9 million people visited Cuyahoga Valley National Park in 2024, according to the park district.
