Wednesday's snow causes several accidents, cars in ditches in Becker County

Crime and fire report: Child wakes up to see uninvited child rummaging through bedroom dresser, person riding horse chased by truck and more from area law enforcement call logs March 27-April 2.

Thursday, March 27

  • 4:12 a.m.: Caller reported that another party was yelling at them and telling them to leave a residence on County Road 134, rural Frazee. Law enforcement made contact and determined it was strictly a verbal argument.
  • 8:22 a.m.: Caller reported an unwanted party at a Lark Street, Audubon, residence. The unwanted party was eventually trespassed.
  • 10:40 a.m.: A dog got off its leash and was running around Brandy Lake Boulevard, Detroit Lakes. The owner was warned that they would be cited if the dog got off its leash again.
  • 10:42 a.m.: Firearms were reported stolen from a Lake Six Road, rural Frazee, residence. The theft is suspected to have occurred around March 24, and the reporter had suspects in mind.
  • 11:47 a.m.: A motel on Frontage Road, Detroit Lakes, reported that a tenant took all the motel-owned furniture out of a room on March 21.
  • 1:01 p.m.: A one-vehicle accident involving a U-Haul was reported on South Melissa Drive, Detroit Lakes. No injuries were reported.
  • 1:18 p.m.: A burglary was reported at a Mashkiki Street, Ponsford, residence. The door of the residence was kicked in, and several items were missing, including a video game console.
  • 1:53 p.m.: Theft of a purse was reported by a Detroit Lakes caller.
  • 4:50 p.m.: Trespassing was reported by a property owner on County Highway 25, Detroit Lakes. The reporter stated a trail camera had captured someone riding a horse on the property. They did not recognize the person but wanted them told to stay off the property.
  • 5:20 p.m.: A third party reported a verbal disagreement between two people at a business on U.S. Highway 10 West, Detroit Lakes. The two people left without law enforcement involvement.
  • 6:26 p.m.: A grass fire was reported on County Road 125, Park Rapids.
  • 7:24 p.m.: A grass fire was reported on County Road 129, Ponsford.
  • 10:06 p.m.: Caller reported that someone was in an unoccupied house on County Highway 29, Frazee. Law enforcement did not locate anyone in the house or any signs that someone was in the house.
  • 10:37 p.m.: Grass fire was reported on County Highway 21, Ogema.

Friday, March 28

  • 10:53 a.m.: A hypodermic needle was found and disposed of on 285th Avenue, Ogema.
  • 11:55 a.m.: An ATV was reportedly tearing up land along Eagle View Road, Ogema.
  • 12:54 p.m.: A 61-year-old Fargo man was arrested on suspicion of DWI following a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 59, Ogema.
  • 2:04 p.m.: Caller reported that someone was in a residence that was supposed to be unoccupied on County Highway 29, Frazee. No one was located.
  • 5:39 p.m.: Leaves were on fire underneath a car on 324th Avenue, Detroit Lakes. The car eventually caught on fire, as did a nearby ATV.
  • 7:57 p.m.: Osage caller reported fraudulent activity regarding their bank accounts.
  • 8:23 p.m.: About $500 was reported stolen from a wallet at a residence on State Street East, Detroit Lakes.
  • 9:10 p.m.: Employee at a business on State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, reported that a man was loitering around the business and exposed his genitals.
  • 10:17 p.m.: A trailer was reported stolen from a County Highway 29, Frazee, residence.
  • 10:39 p.m.: Caller at a Maple Drive, Detroit Lakes, residence reported seeing someone on their home security camera. No one was found and, upon review of the tape, it was determined that it was likely rain mixed with light that caused the illusion that someone was there.

Saturday, March 29

  • 12:14 a.m.: Caller wanted two intoxicated people removed from a residence on Long Bridge Road, Detroit Lakes.
  • 1:49 a.m.: A person located on Frazee Street East, Detroit Lakes, needed a ride to the hospital after drinking too much.
  • 6:48 a.m.: A person was reportedly screaming and crying in the front yard of a residence on 325th Avenue, Ogema. The person was intoxicated and lost.
  • 8:38 a.m.: A deer stand was reportedly shot on property along State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes.
  • 10:36 a.m.: A 70-year-old Audubon man was arrested following a traffic stop on County Highway 11, Audubon. The call log stated the arrest was for a gross misdemeanor.
  • 10:49 a.m.: A person flagged down officers along Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes, seeking information about dropping charges they had pressed against someone.
  • 2:29 p.m.: Caller reported that their child had woken up Saturday morning to see another juvenile rummaging through the dresser in their bedroom at a residence on Sixth Street, Lake Park. The juvenile had walked into the residence uninvited.
  • 2:30 p.m.: A man was reportedly walking along County Highway 34, Ogema, and exposing his genitals to oncoming traffic. Officers were unable to locate.
  • 2:28 p.m.: A follow-up report was made regarding the theft of items from a County Highway 29, Frazee, residence.
  • 9:17 p.m.: A small fire was reported along County Highway 21, Ogema.
  • 10:31 p.m.: Caller reported that someone had banged on the door and window of their residence on Holmes Street West, Detroit Lakes.
  • 10:43 p.m.: A caller in Detroit Lakes reported that someone was threatening to kill them. No other information was given to law enforcement.
  • 11:14 p.m.: Disturbance was reported outside of a gas station on Frazee Street East, Detroit Lakes, when kids got into a verbal disagreement.

Sunday, March 30

  • 12:39 a.m.: Caller wanted someone removed from a residence on Beaver Trail, Ogema.
  • 1:48 a.m.: A 40-year-old Detroit Lakes man was arrested for fifth-degree domestic assault at a Detroit Lakes residence.
  • 2:26 a.m.: A car went into the ditch along Cherry Lake Road, Ogema. No injuries were reported.
  • 12:07 p.m.: Dispute between hotel staff and guests was reported at a hotel along U.S. Highway 10 East, Detroit Lakes. The guests were leaving upon law enforcement arrival.
  • 1:04 p.m.: Caller reported that someone was shooting in a gravel pit near their residence on County Highway 22, Detroit Lakes. Law enforcement did not locate anyone in the gravel pit, nor any signs that someone had been there.
  • 1:04 p.m.: Paperwork was reportedly stolen out of a vehicle on Front Street East, Detroit Lakes.
  • 5:02 p.m.: Illegal dumping was reported on Old Pit Road, Detroit Lakes.
  • 7:58 p.m.: Caller reported that their ATV went into Perch Lake in Erie Township and that they would retrieve it at a later date. No injuries were reported.

Monday, March 31

  • 1:27 a.m.: Suspicious activity was observed when a car pulled into a parking lot, observed a squad car and then left. The officer spoke with the driver, who was just waiting for a friend.
  • 8:35 a.m.: Frazee business owner reported ongoing harassment from a former client.
  • 9:07 a.m.: A suspicious man was reportedly standing on North Twin Lake in Frazee. The man was not near the public access.
  • 9:45 a.m.: Lake Park caller reported being stalked by someone. Law enforcement spoke with the person in question and warned them.
  • 11:31 a.m.: A wallet was reported stolen from a residence on West Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
  • 3:08 p.m.: Ogema caller reported a credit card scam in which someone was claiming the caller owed money on a card they don’t actually have. No personal information was given.
  • 3:32 p.m.: Grass fire was reported along 580th Avenue, Park Rapids.
  • 4:45 p.m.: Homeowner reported that a fire got away from them while burning branches and started a small grass fire along 530th Avenue, Menahga.
  • 6:05 p.m.: Caller reported that a person driving a vehicle with Manitoba plates tried to sell them an internet package at their home on Third Street, Lake Park. The person had come to the house before and was told that the homeowners were not interested in purchasing an internet package.
  • 10:56 p.m.: Caller at a Marten Drive, Ogema, residence wanted their partner removed from the home for the night.
  • 11:56 p.m.: A 43-year-old Frazee man was arrested on a warrant.

Tuesday, April 1

  • 8:49 a.m.: A car tab was reportedly stolen off a vehicle on Peace River Ranch Road, Frazee.
  • 10:17 a.m.: Two men were reportedly knocking on a residence’s door and trying to gain access using a key along Oak Grove Avenue, Detroit Lakes. The men were trying to do some maintenance and had the wrong keys.
  • 11:25 a.m.: Caller reported that a Pheasants Forever feeder was struck and dragged by a vehicle on 240th Street, Lake Park.
  • 11:42 p.m.: Caller reported that their child was chased by a man in a black truck while riding a horse on County Highway 26, Osage. The rider had to go into the woods to get away from the vehicle. The truck also had a child and dog in it.

Wednesday, April 2

  • 8:30 a.m.: A Frazee resident reported an assault, and not long after, a 48-year-old Detroit Lakes man was arrested in connection with the incident.
  • 9:01 a.m.: A rollover accident was reported on U.S. Highway 10 near Detroit Lakes. An 8-year-old Brainerd girl was taken to Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes for non-life-threatening injuries.
  • 12:13 p.m.: An iPod was reported stolen from a business on North Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes.
  • 12:41 p.m.: Medication, clothing and change were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Morrow Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
  • 12:44 p.m.: A car slid into the ditch near 130th Street and County Highway 29, Frazee. No injuries reported.
  • 1:07 p.m.: A car reportedly bounced off a guardrail on County Highway 21, Detroit Lakes. The car was gone upon law enforcement arrival.
  • 1:47 p.m.: A semi-truck jackknifed at mile marker 38 on U.S. Highway 10, Audubon.
  • 2:20 p.m.: A car went into the ditch at mile marker 34 on U.S. Highway 10, Lake Park. No injuries were reported.
  • 2:22 p.m.: A car went into the ditch near U.S. Highway 10 and Broadway Street, Audubon. No injuries were reported.
  • 5:25 p.m.: A car went off the road on U.S. Highway 59, Callaway. No injuries were reported.
  • 6:09 p.m.: A car went off the road on State Highway 34 near 218th Street, Osage. No injuries reported.
  • 7:15 p.m.: A car went into the river at mile marker 55 on U.S. Highway 10, Frazee.
  • 9:11 p.m.: An ATV left in a ditch was reported at mile marker 35 on U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes.
  • 9:45 p.m.: A car went into the ditch on U.S. Highway 10 near Boyer Lake Road, Lake Park.
