How to halve the price of your ‘summer holiday’ by travelling before certain date

GOING on holiday one day before the official 'winter season' ends can save you hundreds of pounds.
Holiday Hypermarket has revealed that travelling just one day before the summer season can lead to huge savings.
The travel agency has advised customers to head on holiday just 24 hours before peak season starts, which means you'll technically be on holiday in high season for six out of the seven days... but paying the lower rate.
Departing at the end of a lower-priced season and returning during the start of the higher-priced one can save customers lots of money.
Holiday Hypermarket used the example of the Globales Playa Estepona on the Costa Del Sol.
A seven night all-inclusive package flying from London Gatwick on April 30 to the resort will cost £336pp.

Whereas prices for seven nights in May start from £632pp.
Other advice from Holiday Hypermarket is to book 'odd' dates.
In some cases, booking getaways for eight, 12, or 15 nights can be cheaper than the classic seven, 10, or 14 nights.
You could even get more days away for less.

If you head to Holiday Hypermarket, they have a dedicated page for 'odd duration deals'.
There are currently 237 holidays on that page so it's worth checking to see if you can get more for your buck.
For anyone who isn't too bothered about hotel dining, then consider self-catering hotels.
These types of stays will likely be lower in price and it's easier to be flexible with meal times.
Holiday Hypermarket recommends Greece for self-catering, with some options as low as £182pp.
Travelling during school summer holidays is always tough on the wallet, but there are a few ways to ease the load - for instance, schools in Scotland tend to break up at different times to English schools.
So those in Scotland could fly out of an English airport, like Newcastle of Manchester to avoid higher costs.
Or when Scottish schools go back early, any Northern customers heading on holiday could drive up to the likes of Edinburgh or Glasgow, and fly out of there where the cost will be lower.

Our Best Tipe For Flying With Budget Airlines

There are lots of ways to enhance your flight experience, even when flying with a budget airline...
Let’s be honest, the main reason for flying budget is to keep costs to a minimum, so a bit of research to find the best deal will make a world of difference. Comparison sites like Skyscanner are a godsend when I’m planning a personal getaway with pals or family. If you have some flexibility then you can filter by the cheapest month to fly and the nifty Skyscanner calendar will lay out the lowest price on each date - Sophie Swietochowski, Assistant Travel Editor
Not a single person I know would describe me as a risk taker but I do like to play 'check-in chicken' before flying with Ryanair or Wizz Air. While I never pay to reserve a seat, I will often check in before the last possible moment to try and get an extra legroom seat without having to dust off my debit card. I tried the hack out on several occasions and managed to nab an entire emergency exit row to myself when I flew to Leipzig, Germany, last November. On other occasions, I've been rewarded with an aisle or window seat - Hope Brotherton, Travel Reporter
If you ever see me on a flight, I'll be that person spritzing a face mist on the two-hour hop to Spain. But I love trying to make my budget Ryanair flight feel that bit fancier. I'll always make sure to have the cosiest clothes - so think brushed cotton trousers, my softest jumper and some hotel slippers I snaffled from my last trip - Kara Godfrey, Deputy Travel Editor
