The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) welcomes the launch of LOT Polish Airlines' new direct flight route between Malta and Warsaw, set to commence on 16 April 2025. The addition of four weekly flights between Malta International Airport and Warsaw Chopin Airport will enhance connectivity for both inbound and outbound travellers, providing seamless access to LOT's extensive global network.

The new route, operated by a mix of Boeing 737 and Embraer 195 aircraft, will offer two weekly departure times that have been optimised to provide passengers with increased options and flexibility. This ensures convenient scheduling for both leisure and business travellers. Passengers will benefit from LOT's high-quality service, including both Economy and Business Class options, as well as convenient onward connections to major destinations such as New York, Chicago, Toronto, Delhi, Tokyo, and Stockholm.

Michal Fijol, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, commented: "We are delighted that Malta will soon be added to LOT Polish Airlines' global route network, giving passengers more choices to reach this magnificent island or to give outbound guests more options. Being a full-service legacy carrier, we are not only going to offer reliable connectivity, complimentary onboard refreshments in Economy Class and Polish hospitality, but also a hassle-free gateway in Warsaw for guests connecting to/from Europe, Central Asia, India, Far East, Canada and the United States."

Carlo Micallef, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, expressed enthusiasm about this significant expansion in connectivity: "Malta continues to grow as a key European destination, and this new service by LOT Polish Airlines marks another milestone in our efforts to attract more visitors from Poland and other Warsaw connecting destinations. Notably, this enhanced connectivity through Warsaw will help Malta unlock more of the North American, Asian and Northern European markets, providing greater accessibility for travellers from key cities in the different continents. Improved air connectivity is essential for the development of our tourism sector, and this partnership opens up exciting opportunities for both leisure and business travellers. We look forward to welcoming LOT Polish Airlines passengers to Malta all year round."

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg emphasised the strategic importance of this development: "The government remains committed to strengthening Malta's global links, and this new connection with Warsaw is a step forward in our vision for sustainable and diversified tourism. Poland has been a growing market for us, and with LOT's extensive network, we can now tap into even more markets across North America and Asia. This initiative aligns with our long-term strategy to enhance year-round tourism and maintain Malta's competitiveness as a prime travel destination."

With this expansion, Malta solidifies its position as a Mediterranean hub, offering travellers from Poland and beyond an attractive gateway to its rich history, culture, and stunning landscapes. The MTA remains dedicated to fostering international partnerships that support sustainable tourism growth and economic development.
