Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford to join Real Madrid in a £90 million transfer. However, United manager Ruben Amorim appeared confident that The Red Devils would not sell the Portuguese to the European champions, and seemed to believe that Fernandes was content to stay at Old Trafford despite any interest.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says captain Bruno Fernandes is "not going anywhere" after he was linked with Real Madrid.
Fernandes is rumoured to be a target for Real this summer as they look for potential replacements for veteran midfielder Luka Modric.
The 30-year-old Portuguese could command a transfer fee reportedly around £90 million, and with profit and sustainability regulations believed to be hampering Amorim’s transfer plans in the summer, such a bid could be tempting.
Fernandes has been United’s most consistent performer since he arrived in 2020 from Sporting Lisbon, and has once again impressed under Amorim. He has 16 goals this season, and 95 since joining The Red Devils.
In a press conference ahead of United’s match against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, live on TNT Sports and discovery+, Amorim made it clear that he did not expect to lose his captain.
"No, it’s not going to happen," he said.
Amorim said that the task for him following his arrival in November last year was to get United challenging for major trophies once more.
"That is the challenge," he added. "I want Bruno here because we want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players. He’s [30] but still so [fit], plays 55 games every season and between assists and goals he’s there for 30 at least, so he’s not going anywhere."
Amorim was emphatic that Fernandes would not be leaving, explaining: "We are in control of the situation and I feel that he is really happy here.
"Sometimes, the frustration that everybody sees and [they] maybe say is not a good thing in a captain, but it’s a sign he wants this [success] so bad. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him."
Fernandes is likely to start for United in their first match after the international break. If United were to win, they would remain in the bottom half of the table, highlighting just how far the club have fallen in the current campaign.
After the match against Nottingham Forest, United play Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
