Hannah Chipego struck out 17 batters while allowing just one run on one hit as Lake-Lehman scratched out a 3-1 win over Dallas in Wyoming Valley Conference softball action on Saturday afternoon.
Chipego added two hits and a run scored at the plate, while Jordyn Shorts and Haylee Makarewicz each drove in a run for Lake-Lehman.
Sydney Haydu had an RBI double for Dallas. Nina Barrouk struck out 12 batters in six innings of work.
Pittston Area 9, Riverside 7
Marina Antal and Sam Herbert each launched homers as Pittston Area held on for a win over Riverside.
The Patriots scored four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull away from Riverside. The Vikings scored three runs in the seventh to cut into Pittston Area’s lead, but Herbert was able to shut the door to earn the win on the mound.
Gabby Roman joined Antal and Herbert as the only Pittston Area hitters with multi-hit games.
BASEBALL
Lake-Lehman 19, Loyalsock Township 14
The Black Knights broke a 14-14 tie with five runs in the top of the ninth inning to win a slugfest over Loyalsock Township.
Andrew Morris had three hits and three RBI for Lake-Lehman. Tristan Purdy also drove in three runs, while Sam Finarelli, Jake Naugle and Von Voelker had three hits apiece.
Hazleton Area 8, Bethlehem Liberty 6
Hazleton Area scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory on Saturday.
James Festa and Ryan Racho had two RBI each, while Shea Higgins had two hits and scored two runs.
Holy Redeemer 10, Carbondale 3
Dominic Marranca had three hits (including a triple) and drove in three runs out of the leadoff spot as Holy Redeemer rolled past Carbondale for the win.
Cody Quaglia and Noah Hummel had two hits each for the Royals, with Hummel scoring two runs and driving in a run as well.
Wyoming Area 4, Valley View 2
Two runs to kick off extra innings were the difference-maker in a Wyoming Area victory.
Noah Smith drove in two runs for Wyoming Area, while Alex Vacula had two hits including a double. Vacula also earned the win on the mound, throwing six innings in relief and only allowing one unearned run.
Scranton 6, Dallas 4
The Knights rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Dallas.
Dominick Zangardi had a homer and a triple for the Mountaineers, driving in three of the team’s four runs. Zangardi also pitched four innings and allowed three runs, all unearned.
Holy Cross 10, Berwick 2
Holy Cross broke open a tie game with an eight-spot in the sixth inning to defeat Berwick.
Nico Lonczynski and Francis Yosh each doubled for Berwick. Yosh and Brady McCabe drove in a run apiece.
BOYS LACROSSE
Delaware Valley 9, Pleasant Valley 6
Peyton LaRocco had five goals and two assists to lead Delaware Valley in a win over Pleasant Valley.
Noah Rabolli had a goal and a team-high three assists for the Warriors.
Scranton Prep 13, Bethlehem Freedom 6
Brady Holmes and Grady Toolan both had hat tricks in Scranton Prep’s win.
Mackie Lynett and Braedon McPartland added two goals apiece for the Cavaliers.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Abington Heights 15, Lewisburg 0
The defending district champs in Class 2A encountered little resistance in a win over District 4 foe Lewisburg.
COLLEGES
MEN’S LACROSSE
Misericordia 10, Albright 9
Brendan Stanley scored with just nine seconds left to power Misericordia to their fourth straight win.
Connor Bevan assisted on the game-winner, and led the Cougars with three goals and three assists. Aiden D’Ambrosio and Jared Pelliccione added two goals each.
Wilkes 12, Juniata 11 (2 OT)
Stone Sosnovik scored the game-winner in double overtime to lift Wilkes past Juniata. The Colonels trailed by as many as four goals in the fourth quarter before rallying to win.
Anthony DelDuca led the team with three goals. Stone Sosnovik, Austin Sosnovik, Jackson Casper and Tim Hartka had two scores each.
King’s 14, Alvernia 6
The Monarchs picked up their first win of the season at home over Alvernia.
Ryan Lynch had five goals to lead King’s. Ben Spencer added four goals and John Wall scored three times.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
King’s 15, Centenary 4
The Monarchs scored 11 straight goals in the first half to roll past Centenary.
Maria Schneider and Chloe Burke had four goals each for King’s.
Juniata 23, Wilkes 4
The Colonels fell to 0-8 overall on the year with a loss at home to Juniata.
Brooklyn Pedana had two goals and an assist to lead Wilkes.
BASEBALL
Misericordia swept by DeSales in doubleheader
The Cougars fell 11-5 in the early game and 11-6 in the nightcap to drop a MAC Freedom doubleheader against DeSales.
Jared Hoffman had two hits and two RBI in the opener, while Brock Bollinger and and Brooks Kanwisher had two hits and an RBI each in the second game.
SOFTBALL
Misericordia splits
The Cougars were defeated 9-1 to start the day but rallied for an 8-0 win in the second game to salvage a split of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Casey Funesti hit a three-run homer in the nightcap and Gianna Foreman added a two-run blast.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Juniata 3, Wilkes 0
Wilkes wrapped up the regular season with a loss to nationally-ranked Juniata in straight sets. Set scores were 25-12, 25-17 and 25-19 in favor of Juniata.
Jackson Shafer had four kills to lead the Colonels. Wilkes finished the year with an 8-21 record overall and a 9-7 mark in the Continental Volleyball Conference.
King’s drops two
The Monarchs were swept by both MAC foe Stevens and non-conference opponent Vassar on Saturday, going o-2 on the afternoon.
In the opener, set scores were 25-13, 25-13 and 25-18 for Stevens. Vassar won by scores of 25-20, 25-10 and 25-18 in the second match.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Misericordia 6, Arcadia 1
Five double-winners guided the Cougars past Arcadia.
Lydia Barbour, Bella Aniska, Erin Cridge, Teresa Thomas and Samantha Wallitsch were all victorious in singles play.
MEN’S TENNIS
Arcadia 6, Misericordia 1
The Cougars fell on the road to Arcadia.
Dalton Alexander was the lone winner for Misericordia.

The Cougars got their spring season off on the right foot, outdueling Marywood for the win.
Brett Herman led the Cougars with an 82 and Cameron Purrington was second with an 87.
