Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced that The Omni Parker House, a historic hotel located in downtown Boston, US, has embarked on an extensive refurbishment.

Slated for completion by mid-2025, the refurbishment will encompass all 551 guest rooms, with 57 suites, and the hotel’s 23,000ft² of meeting and function space, which features the Rooftop Ballroom and the hotel’s lobby.

Omni Parker House general manager John Murtha said: “Over my nearly two decades at the Omni Parker House, I’ve witnessed the deep connection this iconic hotel holds—not just for generations of Bostonians, but for travellers from around the world.

“No other hotel offers such a strong sense of place and a story as authentic as ours. This hotel is more than just a place to stay, it’s a monument to one of America’s most charismatic cities, and by investing in its reimagination we’re ensuring it remains a vibrant centrepiece of Boston for future generations of guests.”

The renovation draws inspiration from the hotel’s 19th-century heritage.

Omni Hotels & Resorts interior design senior director Tonya Grine said: “The Parker House holds a special place in my heart, and designing its next chapter was an incredible honour.

“The Omni Parker House has long set the standard for hospitality—a vision first established by Harvey Parker and a guiding inspiration for me throughout this project. My goal was to restore its timeless elegance, drawing from the experiences of its earliest guests while seamlessly integrating modern comforts, ensuring this legendary property inspires and welcomes travellers for generations to come.”

A key feature of the renovation is the transformation of the Premier Suites into Legend Suites, each of which will be uniquely designed to celebrate Boston’s revered figures, institutions, and landmarks.

Other suites will encompass the Harvey Parker Presidential Suite and the Freedom Trail Family Suite, catering to both business and leisure travellers.

In addition, each of the hotel’s 19 distinctive meeting rooms is being upgraded completely. The Dickens Room is set to become an executive boardroom.

The Rooftop Ballroom, a popular venue for weddings, social gatherings, and political events, is being revitalised, drawing inspiration from the hotel’s notable female patrons.

Earlier this year, Omni Hotels & Resorts unveiled the Ernest N Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority’s approval of a ground lease agreement to develop a 1,000-room headquarters hotel.
