Video: Snow, mix, rain after mild Friday in New Hampshire
Thank you very much for joining us. Stormwatch 9 weather on the web. Nice and quiet for now. There could be *** passing snow shower in the north country overnight tonight, passing snow and mix shower elsewhere. However, the next system brings in *** wintry mix here in late March starting later tomorrow night into Saturday. Now it doesn't mean heavy snow, ice, and rain all of the time. As *** matter of fact, in the southern part of the state could just turn out to be overcast all afternoon on Saturday with *** shower or two. Farther north, however, better shot of snow in mixing all day on Saturday. Major concern at this point ice and sleet, that ice, freezing rain, sleet, the ice pellets and basically bounce off everything, so the preferred precipitation type of the mix would be the sleet, not *** guarantee, however, as some spots may see some freezing rain. So travel in packs are there all weekend whether it's rain, sleet, freezing rain or snow, and with enough freezing rain, there could be heritage problems that began as early as Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. We just have to wait and see how that all plays out. In the short term tonight, clouds in the increase could be *** passing snow shower to the north, maybe *** sprinkle of rain or snow further to the south, 20s in the lower 30s. As for the timeline of tonight, clouds thicken up after the midnight hour. Sn showers up north could be *** dusty no inch from the White Mountains into the Great North Woods, but dusting in central areas. Here's *** chance of *** sprinkle or flurry further south after about 1 or 2 a.m. through 4 or 5 in the morning. Lots of sun in the morning tomorrow. breezy out of the Northwest. Seasonable temperatures running to 50 or higher for some. And then high clouds in advance of the next storm approach from the west. Here's the timeline of Friday night, dry through about 9 or 10 o'clock at night, then snow will break out in the northern 2/3 of the state and mix elsewhere after the midnight hour through 234. a.m. Saturday morning, that snow could fall at *** pretty good clip in the White Mountains in the Great North Woods, accumulating several inches with that mix of rain, sleet, freezing rain farther to the south. But notice during the afternoon and Saturday, while the snow continues up north, it eventually wraps up by the early evening. Further south, wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain, and primarily. Rain closer to the coastline and up to about the Queen City. Tough to call again whether it's freezing rain or sleet at the current time. So stay tuned uh to the updates between now and then Sunday wintry mix sleet, freezing rain and rain, primarily rain south to Concord changing over to *** mix uh in rain *** little bit earlier in Saturday afternoon or evening north in that. Continue on and off all day on Sunday, generally in the lighter side. Monday, steady rain approaches, but temperatures begin to climb. We're gonna be well above freezing by mid-morning into the afternoon, so the rain any mixing, all terrain north, all rain south, rain in two pockets, 1 in the morning on Monday in another round during the afternoon and the early evening. Now in terms of snowfall from this system, 3 to 6 inches likely before the mix takes over from the Mount Washington Valley and points north, very little snow if any farther off to the south. However, the concern for icing definitely there north and west of Hookset, especially north and west of Concord from the Centipede area. Northern parts of the Menanark region through Plymouth, Laconia, Meredith, all of the lakes region, even parts of the upper valley and even up north on top of the snow, some ice build up not out of the question, and that ice may accumulate up near *** quarter of an inch or *** bit more if everything works out just so. In advance of that system again, not *** bad Friday on the way. 40 up north, 50s in the southern part of the state. So beyond the weekend and the wet and milder Monday, Tuesday looks like it'll be bright in. Seasonally cool Wednesday sunshine along with *** seasonally chilly air mass in place. All ahead in the next storm, tough to call whether that's *** mix snow or rain just yet, so stay tuned on the weekend Outlook and next week.
