IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Girija Land Ventures for the development of the Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand, India, expanding its presence in the country.

The 181-room property aims to serve both leisure and business travellers when it opens in the first quarter of 2027.

This development signifies the introduction of the Crowne Plaza brand to the Jim Corbett area, a wildlife sanctuary and a growing destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).

The hotel will be located in Ramnagar, the gateway to the Jim Corbett National Park, which is near local attractions such as the Garjiya Devi Temple and Corbett Falls.

The brand has eight hotels in operation in India and eight more in the pipeline.

IHG Hotels & Resorts South West Asia managing director Sudeep Jain said: “We are delighted to partner with Girija Land Ventures to launch Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett, strengthening IHG’s commitment to bring quality branded accommodation to key destinations.

“With improved connectivity and rising tourism demand, we are confident that Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett will be a great fit for the destination and will set a new benchmark for hospitality in the region, catering to guests seeking both business and leisure experiences.”

The Crowne Plaza Resort Jim Corbett will offer a range of amenities, including four dining options, versatile meeting spaces, a club lounge, spa, swimming pool, fitness centre, and dedicated retail spaces.

Girija Land Ventures director Avinash Kumar Jha said: “We are pleased to collaborate with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring the Crowne Plaza brand to Jim Corbett. With IHG’s global expertise and our deep local insights, we are confident that this premium hotel will elevate the hospitality experience in the region.

“Its prime location, coupled with IHG’s renowned service standards, will make it a sought-after destination for both leisure and business travellers seeking a seamless blend of comfort and nature.”

IHG currently operates 47 hotels under six brands in India, encompassing Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resort, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts Six Senses, and voco Hotels.

IHG anticipates opening 60 more hotels within the next three to five years.

This expansion follows the launch of the first voco hotel in India, voco Jim Corbett, which opened in May 2024.
