Evansville Day School students experiencing flight delay in London following airport power outage
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Day School officials say a handful of their students are currently stuck in London after Heathrow Airport was closed Friday after a fire at a nearby electrical substation cut power to Europe’s busiest airport.
According to a press release, Evansville Day School students have traveled internationally as part of our annual Intersession program for Upper School students.

School officials say despite this unexpected flight delay, their staff chaperones have managed the situation with exceptional calm and efficiency.
They say this experience has given their students a valuable opportunity to navigate real-world challenges, strengthening their problem-solving skills and adaptability.
As always, they say their top priority is the safety and well-being of their students, and appropriate accommodations have been arranged to ensure a timely return home.
London’s Heathrow Airport says it plans to resume some flights later Friday and hopes to return to a full schedule on Saturday.
