Maldives sees over 500,000 tourist arrivals, achieves 4.6% growth by March
Maldives has recorded over 500,000 tourist arrivals so far this year, reflecting a notable increase in the country’s tourism sector.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 500,233 tourists visited the Maldives as of March 11, representing a 4.6% rise compared to the same period last year.
In 2024, the number of arrivals stood at 478,416 by this time, while in 2023, it was 417,079.
Monthly figures show a consistent increase in tourist numbers. January saw 214,863 visitors, followed by 214,091 in February.
In the first 11 days of March alone, 71,279 tourists arrived in the country.
China topped the list of tourist source markets, contributing 63,478 visitors, accounting for 12.7% of the total market share.
The United Kingdom followed with 50,773 tourists (10.1%), closely trailed by Russia at 50,620 (10.1%).
Italy recorded 47,566 arrivals (9.5%), and Germany rounded out the top five with 33,045 tourists (6.6%).
Other key markets included India, France, the United States, Poland, and Switzerland.
