
BORACAY – Visitor arrivals to Boracay Island in 2024 slightly dipped by 2 percent compared to tourist numbers in 2023.
The island registered 2,077,977 inbound tourists from January to December. In 2023, Boracay Island welcomed 2,120,419 tourist arrivals.
Last year, international tourists accounted for 412,803 of the total arrivals. A total of 422,201 foreign visitors stayed in Boracay in 2023 or a decline of 2.22 percent when compared to the numbers of 2024.
Korea was the top inbound market with 149,827 tourists, followed by China with 45,038 and USA with 42,532.
Taiwan registered 25,659, Australia (17,330), Russian Federation (14,669), United Kingdom (13,209), Japan (10,393), Germany (9,188), and Canada with 7,018.
East Asians from Hong Kong, China, Japan, Macau, Taiwan, and Korea reached 232,337, followed by North Americans from Puerto Rico, USA, Canada, and Mexico with 50,049.
Northern Europeans from Sweden, United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Norway, and Denmark registered 23,873.
Also, Western Europeans from Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg, and Czech Republic totaled 22,196.
Visitors from Australia, Nauru, Guam, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand tallied 19,296. Eastern Europeans from Russian Federation, Poland, and Commonwealth of Independent States also registered 18,403 arrivals.
Southern Europeans from Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Union of Serbia, and Montenegro accounted for 9,283 arrivals.
Moreover, the number of domestic tourists recorded 1,641,078 or a 1.08 percent drop in arrivals compared to 1,659,022 in 2023, according to Malay Municipal Tourism Office.
Tourists aged 13 to 59 is the age group that travel the most to Boracay Island with 1,840,678. Women are more likely to travel than men to Boracay Island at 52 percent while the remaining 48 percent are male./PN
