UK tourists in Paris have warned "it is unimaginable" as they warned over their holidays turning into nightmares. Brits spoke out on Reddit and tourists have been slamming European Union getaways on the widely used viral forum.

It comes after a user asked which places were the “least enjoyable” on the continent ahead of spring and summer. The Reddit user asked: “Which European city did you have the least enjoyable experience in, and what were the reasons for it?”

One said: "Paris. Absolutely filthy. And I mean like unimaginably dirty even by our standards. Lots and lots of crime very visible all around in the form of pick pockets and con artists. Very expensive and the Parisians generally were pretty rude.

"At least when you go to the nicer bits of london for food the area tends to be quite nice to match the outrageous prices." A second said: "Well, I got my boobs grabbed by a police man in Paris, when I was 14. I stopped to ask him directions (in my not great French). I had my head covered, because it was part of the outfit I was wearing.

"But he obviously assumed I was a Muslim immigrant, so thought it was ok to sexually assault me. It wasn’t, I’m not, but even if I was sexually assault is not ok." Another said: "Paris. Dirty, the people were unbelievably rude (I said merci when someone actually stopped at a crossing and he looked angry and shrugged like I was an idiot, some school girls sang a song about me being an English *****, despite me wearing a long, flowing hippie dress that in no way revealed any flesh) and I felt unsafe.

"Got followed by two men near the Louvre. Would never go back. I don't know why people say it's romantic... I guess those people are into some weird stuff." Another said: "love the city architecture, and language, but people are rude. Dirty.

"Waiters at coffee shops ignore you. Was shouted at to learn French because I couldn’t pronounce croissant properly and would not serve me and told me to leave. Generally a real animosity towards brown/black people."
