E&H, King split doubleheaderÂ
Emory & Henry concluded its softball season with a 12-4 non-conference home win in the second game of a doubleheader against King on Sunday.Â
The Tornado, which opens Conference Carolinas tournament play on Thursday in Duncan, S.C., won the opener, 14-10.
Home runs by Danielle King, Amy Meister and Kenzie Ingo lifted the Wasps to the victory, finishing the season with an 18-33 record. Desi Norris scored three runs and walked twice and Patrick Henry graduate Abigail Street doubled and Lydia Taylor tripled in the win. Destiny Good was good, scattering eight hits over six innings to pick up the win in the circle.Â
Avaiah Bunsic and Tinsley Thompson had two hits each, while Bunsic scored twice for King. Olesia Walch was the losing pitcher.Â

Haylee Dye (John Battle) homered, doubled and singled, drove in three runs and scored three times in King's opening game win. Thompson also have three hits, including a home run, and scored three runs. Alyssa Suits led the Tornado with four hits, including a home run, double three runs and two RBIs. Lilly Million added three hits, including a home run. Tori Ryan (Tennessee High) and Caitlynn Bishop drove in two runs each.Â
Hannah Fritts picked up the win in the circle.Â
Norris homered, doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice for the Wasps. Street had two hits, two walks and scored three runs, while MacKenzie Williams had two hits and Meister had three RBIs. Ashlee Foster was the losing pitcher in relief.Â
King (27-23), which won the Conference Carolinas tournament in 2022 and finished second last season, will be seeded eighth in the Conference Carolinas tournament, and will face Barton in the opening round on Thursday.Â

ETSU takes series from PurdueÂ
Cody Miller homered and Noah Gent and Nick Iannantone drove in two runs apiece as East Tennessee State defeated Purdue 12-2 to take two of three games from the Big Ten program.Â
Miller and Gent had two hits each and Jackson Green and Noah Webb scored twice apiece in the win. Michael Harpster pitched a complete game six-hitter for the Buccaneers. He struck out eight and walked just two batters.Â
ETSU (24-13) travels to Appalachian State on Tuesday and will host The Citadel in a three-game Southern Conference series beginning on Friday.Â
Runs aplenty as King falls to BravesÂ
North Carolina-Pembroke pounded out 25 hits to take the series from King with a 24-11 win over the Tornado in Bristol.
Pembroke hit 10 doubles and five home runs, scoring seven runs in the third and four each in three other innings against seven King pitchers, with starter Miguel Rosado taking the loss.Â
Truman Roper and Patrick Corley had three hits each for the Tornado, while Garrett Huffman and Corley had three RBIs apiece. Michael Starrs and Huffman had two hits apiece and Starrs drove in two runs. Connor Hyatt tripled and Jacob Eargle homered in the los.Â
King (14-28, 7-18) will conclude the regular season with a home doubleheader with Emmanuel on Friday. The Conference Carolinas tournament will be held on May 1-5 in Gastonia, N.C.Â
Lions roar past Wasps
After scoring 25 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Mars Hill on Saturday, the Lions earned a measure of a revenge with an 11-0 South Atlantic Conference road over Emory & Henry.Â
Noah Mazza and Nick Morris had the lone hits for the Wasps, while Mars Hill had two home runs and two doubles among its 11 hits. Drew Lanzo took the loss for Emory & Henry (10-35, 6-21).
The Wasps will host Lenoir-Rhyne in a single game on Tuesday and will conclude the campaign with a three-game series beginning on Friday at Newberry.Â
Saints top UVa-WiseÂ
Twin Springs grad Justin Reed drove in the only two runs the University of Virginia's College at Wise lost in a 4-2 South Atlantic Conference home loss to Limestone.
Morgan Miller added two hits and DJ Dickson drew three walks for the Highland Cavaliers. Starting pitcher Justin Snider took the loss on the mound.
UVa-Wise (12-34, 8-19) will conclude its season with a three-game series beginning on Friday at Anderson University.Â
