Once Monday morning is out of the way, North Wales can look forward to a week of rising temperatures and some spells of sunshine. The week will start cloudy with a few showers but things will brighten up - with the promise of more to come.

The Met Office cannot rule out the chance of a few showers during the week and in some places it will remain rather cloudy. Overnight temperatures are likely to hold up in double figures in most place but it could feel a little cooler in rural areas.

As the week progresses, however, daytimes temperatures are forecast to ease slightly upwards, especially futher west, hitting 21C in some places by the weekend. Conditions also look set fair longer term too.

Long-range UK forecast - Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 17

July is traditionally Wales’ hottest month and for tourism operators the weather prospects look good. High pressure is set to build from the southwest of Britain on Friday, which will come to define this period.

Southern and eastern parts of the UK can expect the best of any fine and dry weather, light winds, and very warm temperatures. Cloud increases further northwest, with pulses of drizzle or light rain, mostly confined to high ground.

However, some heavier outbreaks can’t be ruled out in the far northwest of Britain, with moderate or fresh winds in the far north, and near normal temperatures.

In the following week, the high pressure will begin to centre over the UK, extending the settled regime – though showers are possible. Temperatures will be near or above average, and hot in the south of Britain.

High pressure is likely to stay in charge for the rest of the month, bringing generally fine and settled weather. Northern areas of the UK are likely to see showers, and these could extend further south at times.
