Brits have been keeping themselves fixed on the travel updates in a bid to get a holiday.

Coronavirus has meant that flying away turned into a tough venture for those looking to leave the country.

However, the country's travel list means there are certain places you can and can't travel to at the moment, depending on what list it is.

But there is a worry that Spain could have been added to the "amber plus" list meaning that even those fully vaccinated would need to isolate.

There has been eyes on mainland Spain due to its soaring coronavirus rates over the past month.

Before it was scrapped, ministers considered putting the country on the amber watchlist which would have overtaken the amber plus list.

Spain was mentioned as possibility of being added to the list because of the fears about the Beta variant which first emerged in South Africa.

T here were also fears it could be added to the red list in the future. However, the is good news on the horizon according to one expert.

Tim White, a data expert from White Media Consultation who has been rounding up daily cases internationally throughout the pandemic, has shared some positive numbers from Spain.

He tweeted: "Spain's latest data on Covid 19 variants is very good news regarding the upcoming UK review.

"In week 26, there were 184 cases of the Beta variant identified in 2,404 sequenced samples (7.7%)

"In week 27 that figure is down to just 33 in 2,389 samples (1.4%)."

The country is currently on the amber list, and is unlikely to move down this week with cases still high.

There had been speculation earlier this week that Spain could be included in the now-dead amber watchlist - which would have signalled that it could turn red.

Meanwhile, fears that the Balaeric Islands could end up on the red list were squashed.

The Balearics Government added it was confident the islands would not be given red status in the next UK travel review.

Tourism minister Iago Negueruela appealed to "individual responsibility" to improve the current situation.

He added: "More than 35 million British people can travel with complete double vaccination. We will therefore be receiving fully vaccinated people and family holidays, a type of tourism we have always defended."
