An artist has launched a range of spoof travel posters mocking Yorkshire towns and cities.

The posters, in the style of 1930s railway advertisements, include slogans such as "Keighley: That scary place on the way to the Dales".

The artworks are being sold online and in a shop in Elland.

Artist Laura Nicholson, from Halifax, said the idea came to her when one of her friends made a rude comment about the town they were visiting.

"I said they should have that on the tourist posters," said Ms Nicholson.

Artist Laura Nicholson said the posters showed "Yorkshire humour"

She began to design the posters on her phone and eventually launched the range, which also includes "Ripon: Like York, without the good bits" and "Dewsbury: It's just awful".

Ms Nicholson said the posters were not meant to offend.

"It's just Yorkshire humour," she said.

Ms Nicholson said the posters were proving popular with locals living in the towns

She said she was "absolutely amazed" by the response to the posters so far.

"All the reaction has been from the towns that I'm taking the mickey out of and it's all been people in those towns loving them."
