Georgia drivers ranked most aggressive during holiday travel

Atlanta traffic already gets a bad rap and a new study said holiday drivers in Georgia are the most aggressive in the nation.

Gas Buddy evaluated the driving behavior of millions who traveled during the Thanksgiving holiday this year, specifically what they termed aggressive behaviors such as quick accelerating, hard braking, and speeding.

Georgia drivers demonstrated the highest amount of aggressive driving behaviors followed by motorist in California, Texas, and Louisiana.

“As we head into December, motorists shouldn’t let the stress of the season negatively impact the way they drive. Not only is aggressive driving dangerous but it is the quickest way to lower gas mileage by as much as 40 percent,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analyst at GasBuddy. “The holidays should be the most wonderful time of the year, not the most costly at the pump.”

The survey also found that, nationwide, drivers are nearly 200% more aggressive and fuel-wasting during the holiday season.

As well, the study showed aggressive driving behaviors were more common before the holiday and less common during the trip home.
