A package of eastbound pot that tumbled off a flatbed trailer was the first clue. The clues that followed landed two people in the Buffalo County Jail and more than 120 pounds of suspected weed into evidence.

The Nebraska State Patrol fielded a call from someone Friday afternoon who told them about a package that had taken a 3 p.m. tumble off a trailer on I-80 near Odessa.

Troopers found the Dodge Ram that was pulling the trailer. Then they found the package that had bounced loose. Then they found the weed in the package that led them to the search that uncovered a hidden compartment on the undercarriage of the trailer where dozens of packages similar to the lost bundle were tucked away.

They seized 122 pounds of what the NSP calls "high-grade marijuana" with an estimated street value of $366,000.

Charlie Red, 48, of Colorado was driving the Ram. Damaisy Rodriguez, 29, of Florida was a passenger. Their travels ended with a trip to the Buffalo County Jail, accused of Possession With Intent to Deliver and No Drug Tax Stamp.
