WATCH: Legoland Discovery Center breaks ground at Plymouth Meeting Mall; 50,000 Lego bricks dumped

PLYMOUTH >> Children wearing Lego helmets could barely contain themselves Tuesday as a construction vehicle dumped more than 50,000 Lego bricks outside the Plymouth Meeting Mall, marking the ground breaking of the first ever Legoland in Pennsylvania.

The Legoland Discovery Center will open in spring of 2017 and will include up to 10 indoor play zones, a Lego themed ride, a 4D cinema where fans can watch Lego characters come to life and an exhibit called Miniland Philadelphia where anyone can explore a the city’s most iconic landmarks and buildings.

According to Michael Taylor of Lego, First to Play passes went on sale Tuesday. The passes allow visitors access to the Discovery Center for 12 months plus discounts on party rooms and more. Taylor said this is the first Legoland Discover Center in Pennsylvania, the foruth on the east coast and the ninth in the nation.
