World Tourism Day dedicated to creative and rural tourism in Medellín

The city of Medellín dedicated the World Tourism Day to #creativetourism, #taycation, and #ruraltourism, with the promotion of creative experiences to be lived in the natural environment, just a few minutes from the city center.

This initiative completed the actions that have been held through the last months, like the Product Competition, to enhance its creative tourism offer.

The Creative Tourism Network® collaborated on this project, aimed to reward proposals that contribute to the economic recovery of Medellin’s tourism industry through innovative and differential experiences referring to a wide array of cultural aspects like Maestro Botero, the local gastronomy, traditional or urban dances, crafts, or of course, the Silletero heritage, to name a few.

The CreativeTourismNetwork® director, Caroline Couret, was part of the jury of Ms. Ledys Vianey Lopez Zapata, Undersecretary for Tourism at Medellin City Council, Maria José Silva Arango, Head of Vacation Tourism at ProColombia, Andrea Carolina Gil Lopez, Deputy Director of Receptive Tourism at Anato Nacional, and Laura Lugo Pérez, Developer of Innovative Products and Services for Ruta N, during a session opened by Mrs. Sandra Howard Taylor, Executive Director of the Greater Medellin Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In addition to these criteria, the CreativeTourismNetwork® awarded the Special Mentions “Creative Tourism-Orange Tourism” to the proposals Moravia Tours and ColombiaConexion-Vene pues in Medellin – La Comuna 8 te va a Sorprender.
